This program focuses on sewing fashion apparel. We have created three levels to help our students master the art of sewing. Each level is designed to give students the opportunity to practice different sewing teqchniques related to all types of garments. Once started, students can continue to pursue this aspect of fashion construction, or start their training in Fashion Design!
INTRODUCTION TO FASHION SEWING
This introductory course is a good start for any teen that is a fashionista at heart, is curious about what it takes to start a fashion design career, and has never sewn before! You will finish the course educated in all the fundamental sewing techniques to start making your own clothing. A fabric shopping trip is included in this course to train students on how to purchase appropriate fabric and patterns.
Once completed, students can choose to further their skills through our Fashion Sewing Program, or build their design and pattern-drafting skills in our Fashion Design Program!!
In this course, students will learn how to:
- Operate the sewing machine
- Take proper measurements and learn how to size accordingly
- Use commerical patterns
- Learn the varying characteristics of different fabrics
- Construct a garment (skirt or pants of your choice) from "cut" to finish

In this course, students take their sewing techniques and skills to the next level by working on a more complicated project - a dress or shirt! In addition to working on basic sewing skills, students learn more complicated techniques such as sewing darts, princess seam lines, invisible zippers, and sleeves, and are given training for proper and professional fitting and finishing!
Pre-requisite: Introduction to Fashion Sewing for Teens, or equivalent

FASHION APPAREL CONSTRUCTION FOR TEENS, LEVEL 2
In this course, students take the skills they've already acquired in Fashion Apparel Construction Level 1 to create a simple, custom-made jacket. Students learn important tailoring techniques such as proper fitting, lining, and finishing, and how to create pockets and shoulders.
