Fashion Design Program for Teens
(For ages 14 to 17)
This is an extensive program designed for teens with a passion for fashion and a desire to begin a career in the fashion industry. We have designed a program that incorporates essential skills such as sewing, pattern drafting, and illustration to help our students develop a solid foundation. In our studio environment, students are mentored by our experienced instructors to create their own design portfolio. This program is a great way to build the skills and confidence necessary to meet requirements for college or university design and fashion programs.
This program concentrates on pattern making. Students will learn to design by drafting their own patterns.
FASHION DESIGN FOR TEENS, LEVEL 1 (SKIRTS)
Do you have a dream of becoming a fashion designer? Ever wonder what it takes to be one? This is an opportunity for you to get a taste of the world of fashion design! Students are presented with the challenge of designing a skirt collection. Learn how to draft your own skirt block and how to apply various pattern manipulations to create a range of skirt styles. At the end of the course, students will have finished skirt that is their orginial design, ready for the runway!
This is an intensive fashion design training course. Once the students have completed Fashion Design Level 1, they will have a solid understanding and skills required to move onto Level 2.
Prerequisites: Solid sewing skills or Fashion Apparel Construction Level 1 for teens.

Cost: $240 + HST (Price includes the use of drafting tools and drafting paper)
FASHION DESIGN FOR TEENS, LEVEL 2 (PANTS)
In this course, students will design a pant collection and continue to develop their pattern drafting skills. Students learn how to draft their own pant block, how to properly fit and construct a pair of pants, as well as different pattern manipulations to create an assortment of styles, such as jeans, capris and dress pants.
Pre-requisite: Fashion Design for Teens Level 1, or equivalent

FASHION DESIGN FOR TEEENS, LEVEL 3 (DRESSES/JACKETS)
This course focuses on the tailoring specifics necessary to create a bodice block which will turn into a dress block. From this dress block, students will learn how to draft different type of dresses, sleeves and collars. In this course, students will be designing their dresses and make it from pattern to garment finish.
Pre-requisite: Fashion Design for Teens level 2 or equivalent
